Groove finish granite is created by cutting shallow parallel grooves into the surface with diamond-tipped tools, usually over a polished or honed base. The grooves run across the entire surface as a visible linear pattern, giving the stone a distinct architectural look rather than the plain field of a straight polished or honed slab. The colour and sheen of the granite itself are unchanged — grooving doesn't alter the stone's tone the way flaming does — but the surface is visually transformed by the pattern of lines and the shadow they cast.
